Bank_Iowa_Manilla Bird’s Eye View: Manilla

The story of how Manilla, Iowa, got its name goes way back to a town 4th of July celebration in the late 1800s. The community decided that they would make the decision based on the outcome of a tug-of-war battle with one side rooting for the name Manilla and the other for the name Paupville. The Manilla team won, forever coining themselves as “the town that people pulled for” — we can’t help but think we’re always going to pull for them, too.
