Bank Iowa Invites Community Members to Donate to Iowa-Based ’Can Do Cancer’

October 1, 2020

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bank Iowa is partnering with Can Do Cancer, an Iowa-based non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Des Moines, Ames and surrounding areas. Community members are encouraged to donate to the organization directly or take part in the bank’s social media challenge.

For the month of October, Bank Iowa is changing its traditional blue logo to pink on all social platforms. The bank will donate $1 to Can Do Cancer for every new like, follow or subscriber earned throughout the month of October. Community members are encouraged to like Bank Iowa on social media and encourage friends and family to do the same.

“We are excited to be working with Bank Iowa on this social media challenge,” said Molly Zaver, founder of Can Do Cancer. “Cancer survival is a long journey that doesn’t need to be walked alone. Even with a supportive family and friend network, cancer patients can still feel like they’re battling alone. It’s terrific to have a partner willing to raise the profile of our cause.”

“With so much attention paid to the high-profile negatives of today, from COVID-19 to political and cultural division, it can seem like the world doesn’t have time for cancer,” said Josh Fleming, VP of marketing at Bank Iowa. “Our hope is to shine a very bright, very pink light on the great work being done to help people fighting for their lives. We intend to raise funds and awareness for an organization that makes the cancer battle just a little less lonely for hundreds of Iowans.”
